My Streets 15

Shot a little while after the big earthquake, welcome Christchurch to the line-up!

I considered posting this one on the anniversary, but that felt like a “taking advantage” move. I just want to share, and hope my work gives folks an emotion or two.

Besides, of all the things I saw while I was there, and shot, this was one of my top favourites. It speaks of re-build, innovation, and new growth, from tragedy.

In bleak contrast, just to the right was the Hotel Grand Chancellor. Held aloft only by intricate crane work, and awaiting demolition. I think I’ll still include that shot at some point in the series, as it meant a lot to me (I lived in Christchurch for a few years, and have lovely memories).

Here’s to the amazing people of Christchurch!
