Where we ship
We ship worldwide, with the exceptions listed under Restricted destinations below.
Prints are produced and dispatched by our print partner, Printful, from facilities in Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, Canada, Mexico and Japan. Which facility produces your order depends on the product, the size and your delivery address. We route orders to the closest available facility, which normally means shorter transit times and lower customs exposure for you.
New Zealand orders are usually produced in Australia, because our print partner has no New Zealand production facility. That means most New Zealand orders cross the border.
Production time
Every print is made after you order it.
- Production: 2-5 business days. This is the time needed to print, inspect, package and
hand your order to the carrier. It does not include transit time.
- Orders placed at weekends or on public holidays begin production on the next business day
at the producing facility.
Some products and sizes take longer, and a few are produced only in specific regions. If your item has an unusual lead time, we will tell you before dispatch.
Transit time
Transit starts when the carrier collects your parcel. These ranges are our print partner's published service standards for the shipping service your order uses. They are estimates, not guarantees.
| Shipping service | Transit after dispatch |
|---|---|
| Domestic, United States and Canada | 3-4 business days |
| Domestic express, United States | 1-3 business days |
| International standard | 5-20 business days |
| International DDP, United States and Canada | 3-5 business days (up to 12 to the Atlantic region) |
| International DDP, Europe | 3-7 business days |
The service your order uses depends on the destination and the facility that produces it. International standard is the default for most destinations outside the producing region, which is why the range is wide. Customs inspection can add time and we cannot control that.
If your order is taking materially longer than the range for its service, contact us and we will chase it.
Shipping cost
Shipping is charged at checkout as a flat rate for your destination. The rate depends on the product type and size, because a framed print and a rolled poster cost very different amounts to send.
- Rolled posters: the lowest rate, because they travel in a rigid tube.
- Canvas and framed prints: a higher rate, because they are boxed and bulky.
- Multiple items in one order can cost less than separate orders, because we consolidate
shipments where the producing facility allows it.
We do not offer free shipping. We charge what delivery costs and show it separately at checkout, rather than building it into the product price. The amount shown at checkout is the full shipping charge.
Duties, taxes and customs
Your order may be subject to import duties, taxes and customs charges levied by your country. These are not included in the price you pay us and are not collected by us.
- You are responsible for paying them.
- They are usually collected by the carrier or the customs authority before delivery.
- We cannot predict the amount, because it depends on your country's rules, the value of the
order and the category of goods.
- If you refuse to pay them and the parcel is returned or destroyed, we will refund the
purchase price less the shipping cost and any return or destruction charge the carrier bills us.
New Zealand. New Zealand applies a customs duty de minimis of NZ$1,000, so a typical order attracts no import duty. We are not registered for GST, so no GST is charged on our invoices. A large multi-item order above NZ$1,000 may attract duty on arrival.
Australia. Orders are normally produced and delivered within Australia, so no import charges apply.
United Kingdom and European Union. Orders are dispatched from within the UK and the EU where our print partner has capacity, so many UK and EU orders arrive without any import charge. Where an order is produced outside your customs territory, import VAT and duty may apply and are your responsibility.
United States. Orders produced in the United States are not subject to import charges. Orders produced elsewhere may attract duty.
Customs paperwork is completed by our print partner as the shipper, using the accurate value of the goods. Neither we nor they will under-declare an order or mark it as a gift, because doing so is illegal.
South Korea: personal customs clearance code
Korean customs requires a Personal Customs Clearance Code (PCC, 개인통관고유부호) for personal imports. It is a 13-character code beginning with the letter P. Without it, your parcel cannot clear customs and will be held or returned.
- Issue or look up your code at Korea Customs UNI-PASS: unipass.customs.go.kr
- After placing your order, email the code to james@jameshancox.nz with your order number.
- If we do not receive it, the carrier may contact you directly, which can delay delivery.
Consignments for personal use up to USD 150 (USD 200 where shipped from the United States) clear under the simplified list procedure without duty or import VAT. Above that, you pay duty plus 10% VAT on arrival. Details in Korean are on our Ordering from Korea page.
Tracking
You will receive a tracking link by email when your order is dispatched. Tracking sometimes takes 24-48 hours to show the first scan.
If tracking has not updated for 7 business days, contact us and we will open a trace with the carrier.
Delivery address
Please check your address at checkout. We send to exactly the address you give us.
If a parcel is returned because the address was wrong or incomplete, or because nobody collected it, we will contact you. We can resend it once you pay the second shipping charge, or refund the purchase price less the original shipping cost.
Restricted destinations
Our print partner does not ship to some countries because of legal restrictions or carrier limitations. The current list is the Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk regions in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, the Gaza Strip region in Palestine, Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Venezuela and Ecuador. If your country cannot be selected at checkout, we cannot deliver there.
Risk and title
Risk in the goods passes to you when the order is delivered to the address you gave us. Title passes when we have received payment in full.
